The Cult of the Cigar |
| |
For cigar lovers, as the saying
goes, “scarcely has a greater joy
been known to man than a good
glass of wine and a fine igar”.
Daniel Carroll, India’s
representative of Mandala Asset
Solutions talks about this singular
pleasure |

|
Cigars are a lifestyle. Few things scream I have arrived louder
than cigars and few things give as much pleasure as a good
cigar,” says Daniel Carroll, co-founder of the Cigar Club of
Mumbai. Daniel (Danny to friends) is an Australian expat who
has lived in India for the better part of 15 years. He is currently India’s
representative for Mandala Asset Solutions, an asset management and
boutique consultancy company headquartered in Australia.
Tell us about the genesis of the Cigar Club of Mumbai
We started the Cigar Club some 16-17 months ago. It all began right
here at the bar of the Breach Candy Club. The first evening there were
three of us. Before the night had ended, we had ten members. A year
later, we had 305 members. We now have a strength of about 340, and
the number keeps growing. Around September last year, our home-base,
the Breach Candy Club, kicked us out as we had become too many. There
we were, 14 months from our founding and homeless. But not for long.

Skin Sational |

Meher Castelino meets India’s
premier skin specialists to guide
readers on how best to take care
of their skin. She also spotlights
the ange of international
products available today |
| |
|
|
Skin is the largest organ of the body covering nearly 20 sq ft of the anatomy.
Divided into two parts – the epidermis or outer layer and the dermis or the deep
inner one -- millions of dollars are spent every year caring for this large organ,
so that it does not age too rapidly and remains supple and beautiful. Little
wonder, therefore, that the international skin care business is a multibillion dollar
industry. But caring for one’s skin is not just about looking good. It is a necessity in these
days of pollution, stress, speed and jet set lifestyles. Therefore the products that are
created by international manufacturers match the needs of the users’ lifestyles.

U Bein Bridge, Amarapura
A villager returns to his village after having
delivered his farm produce to the market. His
boat, like the entire bridge under which he has
just sailed, has been crafted from Burma Teak,
the most globally sought-after hardwood today.
